Internships, Business Studies & Tours in Bangalore

Bangalore and Facilities

Bangalore

Bangalore is known as the Silicon Valley of India, the BPO capital of the world, and within India, as the "Garden City," famous for its groomed parks, flower and tree lined streets, cosmopolitan flair and ideal climate, comparable to that of Southern California.  Filled with museums, temples, palaces, art galleries, and theaters; golf courses, restaurants, luxury hotels, pubs and clubs, it is more comfortable and welcoming to a Westerner than any other city in India.  Bangalore hosts one of the greatest concentrations of Fortune 500 company operations within this city of 7.7 million in the world.   MBA and PhD graduates number in the thousands, making it the ideal location to study, work and learn about the India phenomenon.

Campus
We share our campus with the International Centre for Management and India Studies (ICMIS), whose core business uses the reverse model of IndiaInternships.com by preparing and sending Indian business and IT students to study in the United States.  In addition, it is one of the premiere training locations for multinational corporate management, having built and conducted custom training modules for HP, Novell, Intel and others.  Completed in Spring 2005, the campus is situated on five acres and is outfitted with Wi-Fi access, a computer lab, library and modern teaching facilities and equipment.

Housing and Accommodations
After the first few days of living and eating in accommodations with the other participants in Bangalore, students make their own housing arrangements with the assistance of on-site support staff.  Options include living with a family or renting an apartment.

Homestays typically include a single bedroom with breakfast.  Students have the opportunity to experience India as a local by living with a family and participating in daily rituals.  Service apartments typically include a bedroom with two beds, desk, lamp, private bath and common facilities.  During the orientation, staff will arrange opportunities for participants to discussing sharing accommodations.  This has proven popular, both as a way to reduce expenses as well as develop a support network with which to share your India experiences.

Due to the influx of people into Bangalore, housing with amenities such as wi-fi access and gymnasium facilities has become extremely limited.  IndiaInternships.com will leverage its extensive network of contacts with executive housing companies to secure the best accommodations possible for participants with considerations for proximity to work site and the Center for American Education, internet access on site or in nearby internet cafes, and fitness gyms, restaurants, nightlife, and other service facilities.  Depending on the amenities offered, suitable service apartments run anywhere between $500-$2,000 per month.

Orientation & Excursions

All participants will attend a mandatory city orientation upon arrival so that students become oriented to life in Bangalore.  Optional, 2-5 day excursions to major religious, cultural and historic sites in southern Karnataka may be available for an additional nominal fee.

Transportation and additional costs
Transportation to and from the IndiaInternships.com campus, the internships and around town will typically be by taxi, of which there are thousands, and IndiaInternships.com will have preferred arrangements with select companies that deal primarily with foreign business persons.  These and other incidental costs during your semester will be minimal.  A taxi across town and a full Indian meal at a sit down restaurant cost the equivalent of about $1 each.  Bangalore is regarded as one of the cheapest cities in the world to live in, and whether you are shopping, eating out or touring, you will quickly find out how far the money goes.
