Internships

One of the reasons Bangalore was chosen as the site for IndiaInternships.com is its concentration of U.S. and multi-national companies, who either have a direct presence or a third party relationship for their outsourced work. After your acceptance into IndiaInternships.com, we will immediately work to place you in an internship with one of these companies.

Typically the internship will be for an average of six to eight hours a day, four to five days per week. After you arrive in Bangalore, you will receive one to two weeks of orientation-related training as part of your particular internship. Some internships include a modest stipend that may help defray some daily expenses.

Interns will be involved as General Assistants, helping with various duties where required, and will have specific tasks and projects to manage in addition to helping executives and staff. As a member of the corporate team with a unique Western/American background, the intern will find that his/her ideas and suggestions for improving projects and services will be welcomed. Studies in business, engineering or information technology would be an asset, but is not obligatory, depending on the personal profile of the candidate. These positions provide a tremendous opportunity for someone who seeks to observe how global business practices are being redefined in Bangalore and desires to gain experience and valuable contacts with a multinational corporation with operations in India. In addition to the internship where you will be placed, interns will also have visiting opportunities with each of the five companies that are hosting other IndiaInternships.com participants. Also, interns will have networking socials with at least a dozen Global 500 companies and their executives throughout the semester and numerous tours of corporate, government and educational facilities in Bangalore. Students who enroll for academic credit may qualify for federal or private financial aid assistance.

Each semester, the internship companies hosting IndiaInternship participants vary.  Past hosting companies include Motorola, Millipore, The Timken Company, Aegis Communications Group, and Microland.  In some cases, IndiaInternships.com may elect to present a candidate’s credentials to other multinational companies that have expressed interest in specific experience and qualifications. Companies that have expressed interest in interns include Microsoft, Cranes Software International, Ltd., Sun Microsystems, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce, GM Technical Center, Daimler Chrysler Tech Center, Timken Engineering, Flextronics, Texas Instruments, Intel, ExxonMobil and many others.
