IndiaInternships.com is a major program of Global Leadership Initiatives, based in Salt Lake City, Utah with international offices in Bangalore, India. We design and manage international internship and leadership development programs. IndiaInternships.com is a Not for Profit company and is in the process of completing its status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Who can sponsor a program?
Many different types of program sponsors provide scholarships including companies, membership organizations, private foundations, community foundations and individuals. We work with them all.

What is involved in establishing an internship program?
Most of your decisions for a program will center around the objectives you have for developing and hiring future management talent with global and specifically Indian competencies. Your key decisions are to determine
- the expectations of what the interns will provide the company during the internship
- the education and experience level required to perform the internship activities
- special skill requirements (e.g., language proficiency, certifications, training, etc)
- whether financial need will be considered
- the total budget for awards and the individual award amounts

What kind of budget is needed to establish a program?
Internship programs are inexpensive when compared to other methods to develop or hire talent with rare global and India management competencies. We assume that our clients seek interns not only for current project needs, but as candidates for future permanent placement. In addition to gaining value from their expertise, companies want interns to gain a positive view of the company and consider future employment.
The candidates companies seek are highly talented and in-demand. To attract such candidates and maximize their contribution while in India, we recommend a scholarship-funded internship that includes the following:
- Airfare to transport the intern safely to and from Bangalore within your time specifications
- Necessary travel documents, preparing supporting sponsorship letters for visas and expediting documents if necessary
- Pre-departure planning and cultural preparation (e.g., packing suggestions, travel health considerations, correspondence with student’s University regarding academic status and preparations for credit transfer, cultural introduction …) via detailed Program Guide
- Internship which provides exposure to Indian Business operations and gives the intern an opportunity to make a substantive contribution to business activities
- Health coverage while in India
- Pre-departure reading on India and job preparation
- Pick up upon arrival and orientation to life in India, including daily life functionality (e.g., using telephones, accessing money, using local transportation)
- India Business Studies foundation to understanding the local business context
- On-going support (e.g., cell phones, emergency support in case of illness)

How long should a program run?
Most internship programs run for 10 weeks and roughly coordinate with academic terms:
Summer June – mid-August
Fall September – mid-November
Spring February – mid-April
Summer tends to be the most popular term as this requires less coordination with academic schedules. However, IndiaInternships.com is prepared to support programs around your schedule. The length of time needed to conduct a successful program is based on the size of the program and anticipated number of applications. We will assist in developing a calendar that will work for your program.

How are IndiaInternships.com’s fees for service determined?
IndiaInternships.com is service-driven business. Our success depends upon your satisfaction with our support and services and ongoing business and referrals to other companies. Our fees depend on how large and complex the program is. We can help customize a program that is affordable. Contact a consultant for a proposal for your program that will include all program costs.

What are my responsibilities once a program is established?
To ensure a program's success, your key role is in the promotion of the program and setting up the parameters of the internship within your own organization. IndiaInternships.com offers consulting services for designing the internship role and responsibilities and for promoting the program. We can also assist with the promotion. Your other responsibilities include providing funds for the program, and announcing or publicizing recipients. We can also assist with the publicity.

What services are provided?
Our services typically include helping you to design an effective program and application materials, receiving and processing applications, selecting and notifying recipients, notifying nonrecipients, paying students a stipend on your behalf, and providing comprehensive pre-departure and in-country support. We also respond to applicant questions and assign a consultant to provide you regular status updates.

Who is on the selection committee?
IndiaInternships.com’s selection committees are comprised of highly trained staff members, both in the US and in India, including former educators, who are experienced in reviewing transcripts and applications and selecting recipients.

What academic information is required of the applicant?
Applicants provide their most recent transcript of grades. Consideration is given to Grade Point Average (GPA), Rank-in-Class. Complete transcripts of grades are requested of college students. Letters of Reference are requested and reference calls are made by IndiaInternships.com staff.

How are recipients selected?
IndiaInternships.com’s established evaluation method focuses on the academic information provided as well as participation and leadership in school and community activities, work experience, a brief statement of academic and career goals, unusual circumstances and an outside appraisal. The sponsor determines whether financial need will be considered. When financial need is a consideration, a financial assistance questionnaire is included as part of the application form to enable us to determine a student's need.
